Abstract

The goal of my project is to understand the social-economic struggles that undocumented families in the Dallas Metropolitan area encounter, which slow or prevent them from acquiring residential or naturalization status. Identifying these setbacks will identify the main causes of their long-term immigration hardships, thus underscoring the pros and cons of immigrating to the United States. Therefore, this research focuses on both the value of long years of immigration-related legal battles, and also examines what motivates immigrants to take the risk of living undocumented in the United States, even in the face of possible deportation.
