Abstract
The title Streams of Light is meant to evoke the dynamic energy and curiosity of shooting stars against our night sky - foreground to the nebulae and the Milky Way that also “stream light” across the dark. A persistently paced piece at 128 beats a minute, the music strives to portray both an optimistic and ominous quality inspired by the lights of outer space, while capturing a sense of hope and discovery.
Streams of Light was commissioned by and is dedicated to Jason Dimiceli and the McNeil High School Wind Ensemble (Austin, TX) for their invitational performance at the Music For All National Festival in Indianapolis, IN, where it was premiered on April 2, 2023 in Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University.
